Kamaitachi

Kamaitachi is a creature from Japanese folklore, often depicted as a weasel or a similar animal with supernatural abilities. Traditionally believed to possess sharp, scythe-like claws, it is known for its swift, slicing attacks on unsuspecting individuals, especially in rural areas. According to legend, the kamaitachi can move so quickly that it appears almost invisible, allowing it to inflict wounds without the victim initially realizing they have been harmed. There are various regional interpretations of the kamaitachi, with some stories depicting it as a protector or a bringer of misfortune. In some tales, the creature is said to travel in a trio, where one slices, another causes distress, and the third applies a healing remedy. The concept of kamaitachi has been explored in various forms of Japanese art, literature, and modern media, contributing to its role as a symbol of speed and sudden harm in Japanese culture.
