Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport played either individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). It is played on a rectangular court divided by a net, with the objective of hitting a lightweight ball over the net into the opponent’s court, aiming to score points by making the ball land in areas that the opponent cannot return. The game can be played on various surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts. Scoring in tennis is unique, involving points, games, and sets, with players needing to win a specific number of games to win a set and a specific number of sets to win a match. Tennis is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and has a rich history with major tournaments such as Wimbledon, the US Open, the French Open, and the Australian Open, known collectively as the Grand Slam events.
